A Glasgow man has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
David Tywan Franklin could face at least 10 years in prison, a fine at most of $10 million, and at least a 5-year term of supervised release, according to the statutory punishment outlined in Franklin’s plea agreement. However, the specifics of his sentencing will not be decided until June 17, 2026 at 10 a.m., which is the date set for his sentencing proceedings, according to court records.
Franklin is in U.S. Marshal custody until the sentencing hearing, according to his court file.
Franklin was served a federal arrest warrant on Lexington Drive in July 2025 by members of the Glasgow Police Department and the Barren River Drug Task Force, who found marijuana, cash, cocaine and methamphetamine, according to a task force press release at the time.
He was federally indicted in the Western District of Kentucky on July 9, 2025 on three counts of possessing methamphetamine and cocaine with the intent to distribute. In Franklin’s plea agreement counts 2 and 3 are planned to be dismissed and he pleaded guilty to possessing and intending to distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine.
The plea agreement also states that Franklin was “a large-scale distributor of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana in Barren County and the surrounding area for more than four years,” shipping “approximately 30 to 40 pounds” of methamphetamine each month since the beginning of 2022. Franklin also had several properties in Barren County — like on Lexington Drive, Indian Hills and Walnut Street — that he used as “storage locations,” according to the plea.
He supplied methamphetamine to Donnie Boyd, according to the plea agreement. Franklin was supplied each month by David Evans, according to the agreement.
Glasgow News 1 has attempted to contact Franklin’s attorney Ebert Haegele multiple times and has not heard back at the time of publication.
