Joyce Weir, 74, Glasgow
Joyce Weir, 74, of Glasgow died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at her residence. Joyce was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Somerset to Jesse Huff and Kate (Grider) Huff, both of whom predeceased her.
Joyce married the love of her life, Ernie Clay Weir, on Feb. 27, 1965, and, after living in Russell Springs as well as Lexington for a short while, they moved to Glasgow in 1969, and it became their lifelong home. After almost 56 years of marriage, Ernie died Dec. 14, 2020. Joyce is survived by their only child, Tammy DeBorde (Todd), and their only grandchild, Leah Kate Deborde, all of Richmond. Also surviving are one sister, Anna Lois (Huff) Huckaby of Russell Springs, and a brother-in-law, Ivan Weir (Myra) of Parker’s Lake. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was also predeceased by one brother, Chuck Huff, and one sister, Reba May (Huff) Herriford.
Joyce obtained a cosmetology license in the early 1970s and worked as a cosmetologist for a short time. She then worked the jewelry, makeup and fragrance counter at Watson’s Department Store for several years, which was right up her alley since she loved the aroma of beautiful fragrances and all things pretty. After that, she went to work as a manager at Southern Beauty Supply, which is where she was employed until she retired.
Joyce was a very thoughtful and giving person and if she thought you needed something, she made sure you had it. If you were someone that she loved or her friend, she did not want you to need for anything. She had a heart of gold. Her love for her husband, daughter and granddaughter was seen by all that met her. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with graveside service and burial at Russell Springs City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
