School districts in Barren County receive numerous National Beta awards

According to a list recently released by National Beta, Glasgow and Caverna Independent Schools along with Barren County Schools received the 2022-23 School of Merit Award.

National Beta said there are a record number of schools on the list for this award. The award “…is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence,” and is given to schools that have Beta Club members in all eligible grade levels.

For Glasgow Independent Schools, South Green Elementary, Highland Elementary, Glasgow Middle and Glasgow High School, as previously reported, were on the list. As were Caverna Middle School and Caverna High School. For Barren County Schools, nine schools, including the high school, middle school, Austin Tracy, Red Cross, Temple Hill, North Jackson, Hiseville, Park City and Eastern elementaries made the list.

Barren County’s Eastern Elementary was also awarded National Beta’s School of Distinction, an award characterized by a 10 percent increase in Beta memberships, as was Red Cross Elementary, Park City Elementary, Barren County High School, Barren County Middle School, Caverna middle and high schools, South Green and Highland Elementary.

Tiffany Riddle, a Beta sponsor at Eastern Elementary, said this award is a great honor and looks forward to next year.

“We are honored to have been recognized and excited to grow our club again this upcoming year,” Riddle said.
