PRESS RELEASE
Commonwealth Broadcasting, a multi-station broadcast group based in Glasgow, Ky, announces respected local business leader Chris Houchens will join the Commonwealth leadership team. Houchens has been named General Manager of the company’s Glasgow operations, including Nash 103.7 (WHHT), 104.7 The Score (WCDS) and the area’s online news product, GlasgowNews1.com.
Houchens joins Commonwealth Broadcasting from his position as Sales Manager of Gerald Printing’s Glasgow operations. Chris began his professional career as an air-personality and operations manager for Commonwealth, and before joining Gerald he served as a marketing director for two local businesses and worked for a local newspaper’s on-line division. Additionally, Chris authored a book on marketing and was the principal of Shotgun Concepts, a marketing consulting business that served clients nationally and internationally. He has also been actively involved in multiple community leadership positions.
“We are thrilled Chris will be taking the lead of our local operations. His extensive marketing and business leadership experience are spot-on for this role,” said Dale Thornhill, Commonwealth Broadcasting’s Chief Operating Officer. “The fact Chris was with Commonwealth early in his career completes the circle. He knows our values, and we know his. It is a perfect fit for us,” added Thornhill.
“It feels good to come home,” Houchens said. “Media and broadcasting were my first love. I’ve spent the last 20 years in other businesses gaining knowledge and experience that I will now be able to use in the industry for which I have a passion. I’m excited to lead a great group of people to serve our community.”
Houchens will begin his role with Commonwealth on November 1. His initial duties will focus on the Glasgow operations. In the months ahead, Chris will add leadership responsibilities across the company’s other locations and initiatives.
