PRESS RELEASE
Glasgow News 1
The Far Off Broadway Players will present the musical play “Silent Night, the (Mostly) True Story of the World’s Most Beloved Carol” December 8th, 9th and 10th at the Historic Plaza Theatre, 115 East Main Street, Glasgow, Kentucky.
It is described as “mostly” true because playwright Peter Manos expanded on the original story and added some wonderfully developed new characters.
The story centers around two men, Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber who are responsible for the carol we all know as “Silent Night”. In 1818, in a little village in Austria the most beloved Christmas carol was composed. And yes, that part of the story is true!
The show has a terrific cast including Brian Pack playing “Franz Gruber” the songs composer, Paul Glodfelter who portrays “Father Joseph Mohr” who penned the lyrics, and Wynona Correll, Peggy Goodman, Claire and Emma Smith and Woods England.
The show also boasts a wonderful choir who sing throughout the show! Singing in the choir are Kendell Ford, Raeanne Brown, Butch Peterson, Kim Spradlin, Sam Dickinson, Dana Buccola, Bruce Brown, Marlaina Napier, Phill Patton and Elizabeth Quinn.
It is directed by Far Off Broadway Players board president, Charley Goodman with Music Direction by Melissa Baysinger.
The show is sponsored by our Season Underwriter Span-Tech Corporation, Show Sponsors TJ Samson Community Hospital and Gillie Hyde Auto Dealership.
There are four public performances. Tickets are 15 dollars, but if you order 10 or more you can get a group discount. We are so fortunate our production will be held at the Plaza Theatre, 115 East Main Street, Glasgow, KY. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Plaza Theatre at 270-361-2101 or by visiting www.historicplaza.com.
