Monticello Banking Company was founded in Monticello, Kentucky in 1895 and still operates under its original name. In fact, the bank’s home office has been in the same downtown location since it first opened 128 years ago. Monticello Bank’s long legacy in the Bluegrass state is exemplified by pillars of consistency, excellent customer service, and timeless banking services paired with modern conveniences.

“We are a very family-friendly bank, and a very community-oriented bank,” said Kim Cannon, Head Teller, who has been with Monticello Banking Company for the majority of its existence in Glasgow.

“We strive to provide exceptional customer service. Our shareholders have always shown great concern for taking care of the customers. We are not a publicly owned company,” stated by the Regional Executive Officer, Cynthia Watson.

Monticello Banking Company first came to Glasgow in 2008 and has been embraced by the Barren County community since day one. The first location was only a couple of doors down from its current location, which opened April 1, 2019. Monticello Bank has since grown to service 21 locations in 14 cities across Kentucky including: Glasgow, Bowling Green, Monticello, Albany, Somerset, Russell Springs, Liberty, Danville, London, Richmond, Nicholasville, Lexington, Louisville, and Harlan.

“We offer the services you can get at the big banks, but with a community bank feel. Our full line of banking services includes checking, savings, loan, investment, digital banking, and credit card products for both individuals and businesses, just to name a few. We are innovative and always looking for ways to improve and add to our products and services, but we have never lost our small-town qualities,” Watson said.

Watson has been in banking for 36 years, and with Monticello Bank for 5 years. Many of the employees of Glasgow’s branch of Monticello Banking Company have many years of experience in the local banking field.

“We have over 100 years of experience within these walls,” Watson said. “Our employees not only know their field of expertise, as locals, they also know their customers.”

“We treat them like family; they are family. We want them to grow with us through all the stages of life and know we are here for them through it all.  For that first bank account, for the first time they buy a house, or even if they start a small business,” Cannon added.

Small business owners have a special place in the hearts of Glasgow’s employees, and they thrive in helping those businesses grow.

“We cater to a wide variety of business types including farm implement companies and Air BnB owners, to auto dealerships, motels, restaurants, and more,” Watson said.

They also pride themselves on serving local civic organizations, clubs, and churches.

“This community is our home, so we try to be as involved as possible. We are proud of that,” Watson said.
