Sixth-grade students and teams from local schools in the area competed in the Section 9 – 6th Grade Showcase Academic Competition.
The events culminated with competitions on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Barren County Schools’ host site at North Jackson Elementary School. The overall 6th Grade Showcase runner-up school was North Jackson Elementary School.
In team competitions, the Park City Elementary School quick recall team finished in first place.
The individual results for Barren County students in Section 9 were as follows:

North Jackson Elementary School was the host site for the event, with Dinah Wallace, serving as the Contest Manager from Barren County Schools, coordinating the event and working with all schools to facilitate the day. Ellen Blevins served as Chief Official, and John Alexander was the Head Scorekeeper.
A special thanks to all the NJE staff for their service before, during, and after the event, for the coaches and parents for working with the children to prepare for the competition, and the countless other volunteers for assisting during the week of the competition.
