Cave City council prepares for Feeding America

During the Monday, Dec. 11, meeting of the Cave City City Council, members voted to close public way that is an extension of Owen Street and Brewington Street giving property rights to Anita Carey, the only residential owner with property adjacent the undeveloped alleyways.

After a unanimous vote of approval, the council gave the floor to Fire Department Chief Kevin Jandt who invited the city council to join the fire department for its annual Christmas dinner this Friday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. Jandt also mentioned that the fire department is planning to deliver its annual Christmas fruit on Dec. 23, the Saturday before Christmas Eve.

“That is the only fruit that some of the children in our area will have on Christmas,” said council member Beverly Ford while explaining why the fire department’s Christmas fruit is important to their community.

During other reports, Mayor Dwayne Hatcher discussed upcoming plans with Feeding America.

“Barren County is in the red in terms of food shortage,” Hatcher said.

The Feeding America event is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21. The council members asked for volunteers to sign-up to help as their is currently a shortage.
