GALLERY: South Green Elementary’s Open House offered the public a look into the new school

The Open House was well attended by past SGE personnel, SGE parents and members of the public alike. The self-guided tour began with a short presentation in the new gymnasium. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.


Josh Turner, the principal of South Green Elementary spoke briefly during the beginning of the Open House. Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp as well as Alliance Board Chair Tommy Gumm also among those who spoke. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.

A typical classroom layout features individual cubbies with Google Chromebook chargers and movable furniture. The movable furniture, as well as the abundance of natural light, are just a few of the things Principal Josh Turner said are his favorite things about the new building. The classrooms are set up in groups which border a common area, again featuring movable furniture as well as sinks and restrooms. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.


The new cafeteria. The original South Green Elementary, which was built in 1987, still stands right next to the new addition is joined, in part, by the new kitchen, which will serve both buildings. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.


The existing South Green Elementary will be the new home of the Glasgow Preschool Academy (and SGE kindergarteners) and some central office space starting next year. Currently, there has been no information provided as to what will become of the current building used by GPA. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.
