Update as of 9:53 a.m. with information provided by Barren County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Mike Houchens.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office arrested 59-year-old Kevin Abner of Glasgow on March 17, following a shooting that had occurred on Park City Glasgow Road.

Abner told investigators that he went to the residence after he was told that his daughter was there and was possibly being held there against her will. When he arrived, he made contact with 32-year-old Shane Wheat, and Wheat’s brother, 42-year-old Anthony Wheat who were standing in the driveway.

At that time, a very brief verbal altercation occurred before Abner produced a shotgun while still inside the car and fired approximately two (2) rounds. Both Shane and Anthony were struck by the shotgun rounds.

Abner then left the residence and went down the road where he was located parked just off the roadway and was taken into custody.

Shane and Anthony Wheat were both transported by private means to TJ Samson Hospital but were later flown out due to their injuries. As of this morning, Anthony was listed in stable condition and Shane is listed in critical condition.

Abner’s daughter was interviewed and told law enforcement that she was not being held against her will at the residence and was free to leave at any time.

Abner was charged with Assault 1st Degree, and Assault 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Barren County Corrections Center.
