Get ready to blast back to the past as you watch the GHS Scottie Singers perform “Grease” five times this weekend.

“One of the performances is a school day performance that will happen on Friday morning,” said Choral and Musical Director Sarah Shepherd. “It’s not open to the public.”

Roughly 60 students on and off stage will showcase their talents on March 21, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. and on the 24 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium at Glasgow High School.

In order to participate in this Spring production, performers had to audition in front of a four-person panel that included Shepherd, Assistant Director Renee Schuler, Choreographer Trevor Edwards, and Producer Karla Clemmons.

“They prepared a small snippet of the music, some of the scene work, and did a dance call because ‘Grease’ has a lot of dancing in it,” Shepherd said.

Four of the students involved in the musical made it to the second round of auditions for the Governor’s School for the Arts program based out of Lexington, Kentucky.

“I think it went really well for them. I think they’ll know by mid-April if they made it,” Shepherd said. “The student who plays Rizzo sung one of her songs from the play for her auditions at GSA.”

Those who want to attend the performance but haven’t bought a ticket yet are encouraged to click here to reserve your seat(s) in advance.

“Tickets will be available at the door, but we are anticipating that we are going to sell out for Friday and Saturday because we’re already really low on tickets, so we’re recommending that people purchase their tickets online if they can,” Shepherd said.
