The Glasgow Police Department has set up a bank account with the goal of providing monetary assistance to the family of Tracy Murrell, the wife of GPD Officer Cameron Murrell.
On Sunday, April 21, the Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle crash in Taylor County — a Kentucky county northeast of Barren — that injured three people including Cameron and resulted in the death of Tracy, 39.
In response to this news, Terry Flatt, public information officer with the department, said after numerous community requests they have set up the Glasgow Police Officer Memorial Fund at South Central Bank.
“This [account] has been set up to assist with Sgt. Murrell’s wife and anything they may need,” Flatt said. “We’ve had several requests from community members who wanted to donate monetary donations and that was the reason for setting this up.”
Flatt said people could drop off donations either at the bank itself — requesting to make a deposit in the Glasgow Police Officer Memorial Fund — or at the department’s offices, located at 101 Pine Oak Lane.
“We set this up for him to use during this difficult time,” Flatt said.
