Geneva Goode
Geneva Cloyd Goode of Glasgow died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital having attained the age of 98 years, 7 months and 3 days. Geneva was born in Cumberland County on October 16, 1925, to the late Charlie Taylor Cloyd and late Flo Gray Cloyd. She was a loving mother and granny who hosted many family gatherings throughout the years and was always happy to babysit all of the family’s littles. She was a competitive pinochle player and loved antiquing, yard sales, working in her yard and University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball. She was a 1944 Glasgow High School graduate. She worked at WT Grants, owned and operated Happy Valley Market and Kenneth Goode Grocery, along with many other retail businesses during the 1950s and 1960s. She then dedicated several years as apparel manager at K-Mart, from which she retired. Once she retired, she became the co-owner of and helped operate The Treasure Chest until she was 90 years old.
She is survived by a son, Gary Goode (Pamela) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; two daughters and caregivers, Denise Curtis and Gina Byrd, both of Glasgow; daughter-in-law, Brenda Goode; two brothers, Paul Cloyd (Betty) and Earl Cloyd (Sandy), both of Indiana; half brother, Kelly Cyphers of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Chris Goode (Tammy) of Tennessee, Brad Goode of Tennessee, Cory Goode (Brittany) of Columbia and Ashley Goode, Geneva Oakes, Ross Brown and Taylor Byrd, all of Glasgow; 11 great-grandchildren, six great+great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and friend and caregiver, Shirley Emmitt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Goode; brothers, Ray Cloyd, Ralph Cloyd and Roy Cloyd; sister, Mary Coe; sisters-in-law, Madie Striegler, Helen Cloyd and Marion Cloyd; and brother-in-law, Terry Coe.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Station 4 at NHC Healthcare and Third Central at the hospital for the compassionate care they provided Geneva throughout the duration of her illness.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues Wednesday morning until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Thelma Harbison
Thelma Lee Harbison, 86, of Glasgow died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her residence. A native of Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Alyne Smith Harbison.
She was a secretary at Richardson Hardware, from which she retired with more than 50 years of service. She was a member of South Green Church of Christ.
Survivors include two brothers, Denny Harbison and Stanley Harbison and his wife Elaine; a special nephew, Doug Williams and his wife Sandy;.and several other nephews and nieces and their children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Harbison and his wife Myrna; two sisters, Rebecca Williams and Maedean Coffey and her husband Larry; and one sister-in-law, Sondra Harbison.
The family is honoring Ms. Harbison’s wishes to be cremated. A memorial service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with inurnment later at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Barbara Lee Harris, 93, died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her residence. A daughter of the late Harry French and the late Volnie (Morris) French, she was born in Indiana on Jan. 22, 1931. Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Sharon Denham, Peggy Wagoner (Vernon), Lana Adkins (Jim), Pamela White (Doug) and Jennie Monk (Rick); 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, William French; and one sister, Carol Lynn Jacobs.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Marion Houston Harris; one son-in-law, the Rev. James Denham; one great-granddaughter, Ellison Sherman; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday May 24, 2024, at Landmark United Pentecostal Church, with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery in Indiana. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
