Due to the weather, which is currently making its way through the Southcentral Kentucky region, several roads throughout Barren County are closed because of high water.
According to Garland Gilliam, emergency management director, Patton Road from 856 to 953 Patton Road is closed as well as South Green Street at Bunche Avenue and South Fork Road at Old Davidson Road southwest of Glasgow.
Though Garland said these specific roads are the ones he has been notified of he advises caution when driving, especially at low water fords that might be impassable given the deluge.
“With the amount of rainfall we have had, and by the looks like we are still in store for, please utilize EXTREME CAUTION when traveling,” the emergency management department posted on social media. “Please slow down and take your time! Consider all low water fords across the county water covered and NOT passable. Roadways have standing and running water that normally don’t have and is causing issues. If you come to a roadway that is water covered, please remember TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN!!”
