Newly elected Caverna Independent Schools Board of Education members Jennifer Ballard and Allison Dennison were officially sworn in at the school board’s meeting Thursday evening by local attorney Pat Ross. Incumbent Gina Lyon was re-elected and so will be staying on the board along with those in the two seats that were not up for election this year — Wayne Hatcher, chairman, and Glaine Percell.
Another highlight of the meeting was that students who have participated in Jobs for America’s Graduates – Kentucky, a new-this-year-to-Caverna program that focuses on preparing every young person for future success, presented the goals of their program to the board and discussed how much the program means to them in helping build confidence and grow employability skills.
Afterward, board members were served a holiday meal prepared by Caverna culinary students and were treated to music performed by the Caverna Jazz Band, all according to information submitted to Glasgow News 1 from CIS central office.
