The WKU Alumni Association is proud to announce the appointment of nine exceptional individuals to its esteemed Board of Directors. These new members bring a wealth of experience, expertise and a deep commitment to our institution, further strengthening our connection with our esteemed alumni community.
The WKU Alumni Association Board of Directors plays a crucial role to inspire alumni to connect, engage and pay it forward to the Western Kentucky University community. This diverse group of accomplished individuals will serve as ambassadors, advocates and advisors, working collaboratively with the University administration to promote the University’s mission, enhance its reputation and support its future initiatives.
The following alumni are joining the Board of Directors in a three-year term that will conclude in June 2027:
Matthew T. Garrett of Glasgow, Ky., is a 2008 graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Matthew is currently a Financial Consultant for Baird Private Wealth Management.
Carlos D’Angelo Bailey of Bowling Green, Ky., is a 2000 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Carlos currently works as an Attorney at The Bailey Law Firm of Southern Kentucky PLLC.
Phillip W. Barnhouse Jr. of Mount Washington, Ky., is a 1992 graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Phillip currently works as a Chief Financial Officer for Hogan Real Estate.
Dr. David Alan Ciochetty of Bowling Green, Ky., is a 2010 graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Dr. Ciochetty currently works for the UK College of Medicine and is President of DaRo Medical Services.
Shelly Glasscock Compton of Bowling Green, Ky., is a 1996 graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business and an Annual Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Shelly is a Partner at Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC.
Kelley Boothe Griggs of Gallatin, Tenn., is a 2012 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters and an Annual Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Kelley is the Founder of Britepeer.
Dr. Corie Morell Martin of Bowling Green, Ky., is a 1996 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters, a 2015 graduate of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and an Annual Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Corie is currently the Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Med Center Health.
Lori Mitchell of Nashville, Tenn., is a 2004 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Lori is the Communications Manager at Oak Hill School in Nashville.
Jean-Marie Lawson Spann of Union, Ky., is a 1999 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters and an Annual Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Jean-Marie is the Vice President of Marketing at Lawson Marketing.
Each new board member brings a unique perspective and set of skills that will enrich the collective expertise of the Board of Directors. Their dedication to the University and their desire to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and alumni are commendable.
In addition to the nine elected members of the Board, representatives from constituent organizations recognized by the Board serve as ex-officio members of the Board. Three individuals will also be joining the Board in ex-officio roles.
Alexis Gonzalez-Lopez of Ashland, Ky., is a 2011 graduate of the Potter College of Arts & Letters and an Annual Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Alexis is currently an Associate Attorney at VanAntwerp Attorneys LLP and will serve as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council Representative.
Douglas Stratton of Elizabethtown, Ky., is a 2014 and 2017 graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business and a Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association. Douglas will serve as the Young Alumni Council Representative.
Rory Kiser of Bardstown, Ky., is a current student and is anticipated to graduate from Potter College of Arts & Letters in May 2025. She will serve as the Student Alumni Ambassador President for the next academic year, and she will act as their representative to the Board.
“The work of the WKU Alumni Association is made possible by the investment members make in our mission,” shared Anthony McAdoo, Executive Director of the WKU Alumni Association. “Our Board members ensure we are being great stewards of our resources and contribute their own time and expertise to help us connect alumni to WKU by building community and creating opportunities to pay it forward.”
