During the week of June 3-6, downtown Lexington was a sea of blue and gold, with nearly 3000 middle school and high school FFA members from across the state attending the 95th annual Kentucky State FFA Convention in the Central Bank Center. While at the convention, FFA members were competing in individual and team competitions. Ten Barren County Middle School FFA members were among those in attendance at the convention, and they were Jacob Wilson, Audrey Carter, Hallie Hughes, Gracie Jones, Kinsley Mattox, Irelynn Williams, Kadyn Sharp, Lily Turner, Lacyie Mauk, and Chloe Floyd.
Each of these students represented Barren County Middle School FFA, fabulously placing in top honors. The awards received were as follows:
Extemporaneous Speaking
Cambree Lile – first place and state winner.
Prepared Public Speaking
Emma Jones – second place state winner
Agriscience Fair
Audrey Carter and Kinsley Mattox received first place in the animal system category, division 2. Jacob Wilson received first place in the agriculture structure and technical systems category, division 1. These students have the potential opportunity to compete on the national level if they are selected as one of the top 12 research projects by the National FFA Organization.
Irelynn Williams received second place in the social systems category, division 1, and Hallie Hughes received second place in the animal systems category, division 1. Kadyn Sharp and Katelynn Reece received a top 20 winner in plant science division 2.

Barren County Middle School FFA students worked hard, and their efforts paid off. Our FFA chapter is proud of each one of our members who represented us at the 95th Kentucky FFA Convention.
