The Glasgow Police Department is conducting a death investigation following a fire on Hummingbird Lane in Glasgow on Saturday morning.
Police department information officer Maj. Terry Flatt said the department received a call about 7 a.m. after a body was found in a home. The fire department responded to a house fire, he said, at the home on Hummingbird Lane.
“We don’t know the origin of the fire,” Flatt said.
The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a fire call at 117 Hummingbird Lane, according to a release from GFD. “Once on the scene, fire personnel found smoke coming from the front of the house. Fire personnel entered the house through the front door and extinguished the fire.”
The fire department release stated one “victim” was found.
Flatt said an autopsy is expected to be performed Sunday or Monday. “Hopefully we will be able to release more details tomorrow or Monday.”
He said a death investigation is standard in these situations to “rule out foul play.”
The name of the deceased is not being released, Flatt said, because not all family members have been notified.
