A Barren County grand jury indicted 20-year-old Christopher Rye on charges of second-degree assault and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
Rye was initially arrested on May 25 by the Glasgow Police Department after a verbal altercation allegedly led to Rye shooting 15-year-old Matthew Arms in the abdomen on McKenna Street.
At the time, Arms was treated at T.J. Regional Health before going to Norton’s Children Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. At the time of publication, Arms’ mother, Lori Beth Bunch, said he “will most likely be coming home” but was unsure exactly when. She also said Arms was released from Intensive Care Unit.
For the “serious physical injury” Rye caused Arms he is indicted for second-degree assault, which is a class C felony, however he is also charged with three counts of wanton endangerment when he fired his weapon, which according to the uniform citation was a handgun, in the direction of three other people.
According to the indictment, Rye’s bond is set at $100,000 at 10 percent cash. It also stipulates he can have no weapons and no contact with Arms, his family or the location. His arraignment is scheduled for July 29 at 10 a.m.
