The Barren County Middle School principal is set to be announced on July 31 at 1 p.m. in the Barren County Middle School media center.
The selection process for this administrative position was officially begun on July 22 just two days after it was announced that former Barren County Middle School Principal Michael Davis was elevated to director of elementary instruction on July 20.
As with similar selections the process has roughly six steps including Site-Based Decision Making council member training, screening of applicants, interviewing top candidates, a vote and approval. The selection process also requires the job to be listed for at least 15 days before an official decision can be made.
According to the district’s job postings the middle school principal position was posted on July 20. Obviously that does not satisfy the 15 day requirement however Heather Gardner, the district communication officer, said they applied for a waiver of that requirement from the Kentucky Department of Education and due to the impending beginning of the academic year on Aug. 14, it was granted.
Barren County Middle School’s Site-Based Decision Making council includes Superintendent Amy Irwin, teachers Jaime Ayres , Amanda Moore, Gregory McCord, Catherine Ward, parents Ricky Garmon, Cynthia Craig and Shana Vincent.
