Fiscal court to discuss library tax rates, Mt. Pleasant Road changes at Sept. 17 meeting

The Barren County Fiscal Court, with its seven magistrates and judge-executive, is scheduled to meet tomorrow at 9 a.m. to discuss, among a multitude of other things, the 2024 library tax rate and authorize revisions to a county road.

In the agreement provided it states that Barren County being unable to appropriate annual funds required by law but will provide library funding in the amount of 2.9 cents per $100 of assessed real property, 2.54 cents per $100 on personal property and 2.39 cents per $100 on assessed motor vehicle values. The agreement further states the term is until June 30, 2025.

The magistrates are also set to “discuss and vote” on an order that essentially will authorize Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd to enter discussions with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church regarding the proposed moving the Roseville Road intersection of Mt. Pleasant Road. This plan was discussed in greater detail during the transportation committee meeting.
