Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College has been awarded the prestigious Title III Strengthening Institutions Program grant by the U.S. Department of Education. This significant grant will provide $2 million in funding over the next five years to enhance the college’s institutional capacity and improve academic outcomes, particularly for students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds.

The Title III SIP grant is designed to help institutions strengthen academic quality, improve institutional management, and ensure fiscal stability. These enhancements will provide SKYCTC students with the resources, support, and opportunities necessary to achieve success in their educational pursuits.

Key initiatives supported by the grant include:

  • Student Services: Expanded programming will be implemented to assist students in staying on track toward graduation and career success.
  • Financial Literacy Education: Services aimed at improving financial and economic literacy for students and their families. The grant will also fuel ongoing efforts to boost retention and graduation rates, with a specific focus on first-generation college students and those from underserved populations. This initiative aligns with SKYCTC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve their academic and career goals.

“This grant will be transformative for our institution and our students,” said Dr. Brooke Justice, Interim President of SKYCTC. “It will provide vital resources to ensure that all students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—have the support they need to succeed.”
