Good news and bad news for Barren Countians awaiting the opening of Glasgow Square’s newest hobby business. The good news came with the Historic Preservation Commission’s approval of owner Paul Cloyd’s Certificate of Appropriateness, which will allow him to make renovations to the building’s facade. The bad news is that the opening of CardMaster Hobbies will be delayed a couple months due to issues with the roof.

Due to the fact that CardMaster Hobbies, which is located at 125 N. Public Square that was once T.C.B.F. Pawn and Bargain, is part of the historic downtown zone, Cloyd was required to submit a formal application allowing him to make changes to the building.

Currently, the building has recessed doors with windows on either side up to the current sidewalk. Cloyd said he wants to move up, at least somewhat, the doors to allow more space inside the soon-to-be hobby store. The doors will be not be recessed as much as they are currently. According to Cloyd, the doors will be setback about 36 inches from the sidewalk.

Among the progress displayed by their unanimous approval it was also revealed that the opening date for CardMaster Hobbies is delayed most likely until January due to building issues.
