Barren County Schools alumnus Mollie Webb recently finished sixth place at the 97th annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
Webb’s competition was in Employment Skills. Her competition, unlike some FFA competitions, was available at all FFA levels — local, statewide and nationals — and it essentially was a practice employment process featuring things like numerous Zoom interviews, drafting cover letters and resumes.
Webb said for her employment skills competition she pretended to apply for a State Farm receptionist position.
FFA sponsor Andy Joe Moore said to even place in the top 10 at nationals was an “impressive” feat and was hard-pressed to remember another FFA member who had finished in the top 10 during his tenure.
Webb said that while she is “humbled” to receive the distinction, she had to give acclaim to the whole Barren County FFA Chapter that “was with her every step of the way” as her cheerleaders.
For placing sixth Webb, receives a monetary prize and a pin for her jacket — which Webb said was “a big deal” in the FFA community.
