The T.J. Community Mission Foundation’s second capital project has gotten a new name in the course of the fundraising.
Randy Burns, executive director of the foundation, originally announced Samsonville Square — the foundation’s second capital project — during the Lip Sync Battle in 2023 with Director of Rehabilitation and Therapy Programs Shara Page saying it was something she has always wanted to do.
Based on the information provided by the foundation, the project will be approximately 3,200 square feet of “REAL therapy” and feature 12 real-world simulations “such as a fully functioning kitchen, grocery store and virtual reality car simulator.” Samsonville Square will be located at the T.J. Health Pavilion.
Since its announcement more than a year ago, the foundation has been fundraising for the project, which has a price tag between $750,000-800,000. Burns said they have raised roughly a quarter of that with numerous conversations “ongoing” with potential donors. However, Burns said the name of the project has been “tweaked” thanks to their title sponsor: The Ben and Diane Quinn family.
Burns said not only does it represent their personal faith, but it also signifies the three types of rehabilitations they will provide at Samsonville Square, which are physical, occupational and speech therapies.
Ultimately, Burns said they plan to start construction “as quickly as [they] can,” but added they wouldn’t begin construction until all the necessary funds were committed.
