The Glasgow-Barren County Animal Control Board recently adopted the updated “Animal Sheltering Agreement,” thereby detailing the duties, responsibilities and compensation between the animal control officers and the Barren River Animal Welfare Association.
The presentation of the updated agreement came during last week’s board meeting where Glasgow Police Chief Guy Howie explained that the changes were discussed with the shelter — likely at the subcommittee meetings that were discussed at the Oct. 15 meeting — and were minimal.
The majority of the discussion came in the compensation portion, which remained the same since 2007. The fee is still set at $128,000 payable in quarterly installments with the county and city splitting the cost.
Specifically, the agreement states that animals held for court cases will be held at BRAWA at a cost to the city/county of $15-a-day plus the cost of “intake procedures,” which will be billed monthly with a maximum of $6,000.
With thankfulness all around on the “relatively painless process” the meeting adjourned.
