Action on the production of a movie planned for a TV audience is expected to begin next week, said MacLean Lessenberry, executive director of the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist & Convention Commission.
The production crews from American Cinema International are already in town and are finishing up scouting and coordinating anything else they expect to need, she said, adding that they will be in town the entire month of October. They hope to sell the completed film to Hallmark or UP TV. The title has not been finalized, she said, because there have been multiple changes on the location decision.
“We were lucky to get it. We’re super excited about it,” Lessenberry said. “And they’re going to need tons of extras.”
Lessenberry said additional updates to staffing needs will be posted on the tourism social media accounts.
An advertisement had already been posted last week on the tourism Facebook account calling for a film crew hair stylist, and that ad referred to a “romance movie.”
“We are a part of the Southern Kentucky Film Commission, so we recruit any filming — TV shows, movies, anything – to our area,” she said. “And that’s regionally. Other tourism commissions in this area are also in that group, and that is all because Kentucky has a great film incentive – refundable credits back to the producers of the movie.”
Filming will be in various locations around Glasgow and crew members are staying in Glasgow and Cave City, she said.
