There’s at least three people in Barren County that haven’t fought a duel with deadly weapons.
Shelly Groce, Danny Spears and Brad High came to Barren County Schools Central Office on Jan. 3 to take their oaths of office and officially begin their 4-year stint as members of the district’s board of education.
The ceremony was attended by several members of the district, including Superintendent Amy Irwin, who thanked the two returning members — and one newcomer — for their service.
Based on information supplied by the Kentucky Secretary of State’s website, Groce won reelection as the fourth district representative with 1,890 votes, High was reelected to the second district with 1,479 votes and Spears was a write-in candidate who garnered five votes.

Newcomer Danny Spears signs the paper officially making him a board member. Spears is replacing Nikki Shelton as the fifth district’s representative. He was a write-in candidate and won with five votes. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1
All three ran in unopposed races.
