Two male juveniles are charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on school property after a weapon was brought to Glasgow High School.
According to the Glasgow Police Department press release, officers were notified of the firearm on Jan. 7 at roughly 3:30 p.m. The release also states one male juvenile met up with another inside the bathroom “where he took the firearm from his waistband and placed it inside a backpack, the two juveniles then left Glasgow High School Campus.”
Both males were located along with the firearm, which was confirmed stolen by GPD. Both were charged with unlawful possession of weapon on school property, first-offense possession of a handgun by a minor and receiving stolen property.
The juveniles were lodged in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
Glasgow Independent Schools released this statement to parents and the community:
“On the afternoon of January 7th, Glasgow Independent was notified of a potential weapon on the premises of Glasgow High School. We promptly collaborated with the Glasgow Police Department. An unloaded weapon was discovered and apprehended. To the best of our knowledge, no direct threats were associated with this incident, and it was resolved within a few minutes. The Glasgow Police Department took two juvenile students into custody regarding this matter. We extend our gratitude to the community for their willingness to provide information to schools and the Glasgow Police Department for their prompt assistance in addressing this concern. We will have additional police presence at Glasgow Schools on Wednesday.”
