The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a winter storm warning that includes Barren County.
Barren County’s winter storm warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, to Jan. 11 at 6 a.m. During the watch, the service states, that ” heavy snowfall” is possible and expected with “snowfall accumulation between 3 to 6 inches.” Along the Kentucky Tennessee border it is expected to accumulate between 4 to 6 inches with expected “higher amounts.”
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the watch states. “Plan on slick road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”
