Janet Emerson, 60, died in a house fire in the Bon Ayr community of Barren County, according to county coroner Tim Gibson. The fire was in the 8000 block of New Bowling Green road in the western part of the county on Monday, Jan. 20 near the intersection with Ky. 255.
Gibson confirmed Monday his office was called to the scene of a house fire around 5:30 a.m. He said at 9:45 a.m. Monday he was transporting the body to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy, which is standard procedure.
Barren County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Mike Houchens said officers were present at the scene directing traffic, but were not requested to investigate.
