Glasgow Middle School’s academic team recently captured first place in every category at the KAAC District Governor’s Cup. Barren County Middle School’s team tied the Scotties for the top spot in the Future Problem Solving competition and finished second overall.
“Super, super proud of them. They put a lot of effort in,” Glasgow Middle Principal Justin Stinson told WCLU Radio Thursday morning. “Those kids go above and beyond what you get on a normal school day.
“They spend time working before school and they spend time after school, and just really, really dedicated group.”
Stinson said Coach Jefferson Dickinson works really hard with the students and they also receive some help from Todd Garrison, who coaches Glasgow High School’s nationally recognized academic team.
Glasgow’s Chandler Smith took first in Mathematics; Reese Chaney, first in Science; Shaurya Chaudhary, first in Social Studies; Fisher Allen, first in Language Arts; Rush Shannon, first in Arts and Humanities; and Kinley Stephens, first in Composition.
The following Glasgow Middle students also placed in the individual competitions: Kinley Stephens, second in Math; Gemma Laurie, second in Arts and Humanities; Cesilya Ransom, second in Composition; Reid Crawford, second in Language Arts and third in Social Studies; Bryanna Vargas, third in Language Arts; Rush Shannon, fourth in Social Studies; Shaurya Chaudhary, fourth in Arts and Humanities; Fisher Allen, fourth in Science; Wesley Woods, fifth in Science; and Alex LaCouture, fifth in composition.
Barren County Middle had several students place individually as well: SJ Miller, second in Science; Brady Cook, second in Social Studies; Wesley Hammer, third in Science; Korbyn Basham, third in Math; and Melanie Moulder, fourth in Language Arts.
