South Green Elementary wins District 31 Governor’s Cup

South Green Elementary recently won the District 31 Governor’s Cup, according to a social media post from the school and official results from the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition website. Red Cross Elementary took second overall and first place in the Quick Recall event. Several elementary students from Temple Hill and Austin Tracy also placed in individual competitions.

Students from South Green captured first place in Future Problem Solving with Austin Tracy taking second. In Quick Recall, South Green finished in second, followed by Temple Hill and Austin Tracy.

The following students won in their respective individual events: South Green’s Chase Thornbury, Mathematics; Oliver Chaney, Science; Tucker Lobue, Social Studies; Harper Gaffney, Arts and Humanities; and Red Cross Elementary’s Latcher Harbison won first in Language Arts and Composition.

South Green had several other students place in individual competitions: Knox McGuire and Claire Woodie tied for second in Composition; Camden Fields, third in Math; Hickory Johnson, second, Science; Devika Nair, third, Science; Kaylee Constant, fourth, Social Studies; Taft Dickerson, fifth, Social Studies; Wilkie Stallons, third, Language Arts; Harper Gaffney, fifth, Language Arts; and Adele Shirley, third in Arts and Humanities.

Red Cross students placed in several individual events: Bley Meredith, second in Math and Social Studies; Ty Ralston, third in Social Studies and fourth in Science; Zenith Adams, fourth, Arts and Humanities; and Cadence Deckard, fourth in Composition.

Temple Hill’s Griffin Taylor and Aiden Hale tied for fourth in Math; Aiden Lee, fifth, Science; Branch Vincent, fifth in Social Studies and Arts and Humanities; and Lincoln Elmore, fourth, Language Arts.

Austin Tracy’s Maddie Sneed took second in Language Arts, and Asa Young finished fifth in Composition.

Overall final standings

1. South Green Elementary – 59.5

2. Red Cross Elementary – 35

3. Temple Hill Elementary – 14.5

4. Austin Tracey Elementary – 11
