Discussions of the 2025-26 school calendar, the possible approval of an employment program and a closed session are some of the key items on tonight’s Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education’s agenda.

The board members will discuss the calendar committee’s recommendation, which, as previously reported, opted for the late-August start date with a the last day being set for May 22.

Kentucky Revised Statute 158.070 states the committee and the superintendent get to make, and present, a possible school calendar. At the Jan. 29 meeting, Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp said there is normally uniformity in the calendar presented, and said it would be the same in this instance.

The agenda also calls for the approval of the Jobs for America’s Graduates Program. According to the program’s website, it “inspires, empowers, and prepares the youth of the Commonwealth to become leaders in tomorrow’s workforce.”

“Our specialists teach elective classes for credit in high schools, middle schools and out-of-school school programs,” the website states. “We provide vital job skills, hands-on experience, and a year of follow-up to support the transition from graduation to employment, military service, and/or post-secondary education.”

There is also a closed session scheduled for discussions of future acquisition of real property.

The meeting will be at South Green Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. The full agenda can be viewed here.
