UPDATED: Three people die after Ky. 90 traffic crash

On Friday, January 13th, 2023 just after 12:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a fatal collision in Barren County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located at the intersection of Ky. 90 (Happy Valley Road) and Harry King Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Robert E. Purcell, 74, of Louisville was operating a 2023 Chevrolet commercial vehicle west on Ky. 90 near the intersection of Harry King road. Purcell’s vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed the center dividing line and into the path of oncoming traffic. Purcell’s vehicle struck a 2016 Chevrolet pickup being operated by Matthew Webb, 48, of Bonnieville in a head-on manner. Robert Purcell and Matthew Webb were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. A passenger in Webb’s vehicle, Matthew E. Shrock, 37, of Munfordville was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow and later to Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he succumbed to wounds sustained in the collision and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is being led by Trooper Michael Wathen. He was assisted at the scene by Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren County coroner, and other KSP personnel.

Two people died Friday after a two-vehicle crash along Happy Valley Road (Ky. 90) at or near Harry King Road shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, according to preliminary information assembled.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Daniel Priddy confirmed the number of vehicles and fatalities just after 4 p.m, and he expected to be able to release further details later in the day.
According to scanner traffic, the wreck involved two trucks, one of which was a box truck; it is visible in a photo taken at the scene.
Glasgow Police Department issued a traffic alert advising drivers to avoid the area shortly after the wreck occurred, and soon afterward, a similar alert was issued by the office of the Barren County judge-executive.
The roadway has since reopened.
