With up to eight inches of rain already fallen, a flood warning is in effect for several counties in south central Kentucky.
The warning, which includes Barren County, is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday, April 4. Nearly four inches of precipitation was record in the county Thursday, according to Kentucky Mesonet. Several roads in the county remain closed due to flooding.
“Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall,” the National Weather Service in Louisville stated in its warning Friday morning. “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected to continue.”
Some locations included in the warning are Glasgow, Scottsville, Tompkinsville and Edmonton.
