Cave City police officers and individuals for the Kentucky State Police after receiving a report of a juvenile that allegedly made threats against Caverna Independent Schools.

Police officers said they responded “immediately” to the school and confirmed the situation is under control.

There are no ongoing threats to students, faculty or their families, Cave City police stated. Caverna Elementary School Principal Vonda Stockton wrote on social media that the threat was not credible.

“In alignment with our district’s safety protocols and in full cooperation with law enforcement, the matter was swiftly and thoroughly investigated,” Stockton wrote on social media. “Authorities determined that the threat was not credible.”

On social media, the Cave City Police Department stated that they take “all threats seriously,” adding that these threats are currently under “thorough investigation.”

“The safety of our students and schools is our top priority,” the department wrote on its social media. “We appreciate the swift action and cooperation of Caverna Schools and the Kentucky State Police in resolving this matter. We will continue to work closely with the school administration to provide a safe learning environment for all students.”

Stockton confirmed the state police received an anonymous report of “a student allegedly threatening another student at Caverna Elementary.”

“This incident serves as a reminder of how important it is to talk with our children about the power of their words and the serious consequences that can come from making threats—even jokingly,” she added.
