Over 200 people gathered at Beula C. Nunn Park on the Glasgow Square to participate in the annual BC Reads and Feeds “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” walk.

Money raised through registration fees go directly to supplying meals to kids and their families who otherwise might not get a meal. Barren County Director of Nutrition Services and Afterschool Programs CheyAnne Fant said they had raised over $43,000, which is above the roughly $32,000 raised at this event in 2024.

As usual, Fant said participants were encouraged to skip dinner the night before and breakfast the morning of to help people experience what it was like for a kid who had to wait until school to get a meal.

After making the trek down North Race Street and ending at the First Christian Church, participants were given bottles of water and a yogurt parfait, which Fant said is the exactly like a student would receive at school.
