Layla Fay Ladd

Layla Fay Ladd, 14, of Glasgow died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville. She was born Aug. 30, 2008, in Glasgow to Gregory D. Ladd and Amanda C. Quigley Ladd. Layla attended Glasgow High School, where she was in the Art Club. She loved drawing, playing video games, and makeup. Layla also loved animals, especially her parrot, Echo, and her dog, Ginger; they were two of her closest friends. She will be loved always and missed by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Pearl Dewhirst, Peyton Ladd (Ethan) and Taylor Ladd (Kevin); one niece, Ascela; paternal grandmother, Linda “Mommo” Bernier (Randall); four uncles, John Raymond, Gary, Steve Ladd and Mark Quigley (Kim); one aunt, Melissa Quigley; two great-uncles, Danny England and John Boggs; three great-aunts, Jackie Robinson, Wanda Emmitt and Andrea Boggs (Shannon); five cousins, Taylor and Mylaka Quigley, Kelcie Pedigo and Aubrey and Reese Ladd; and several friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carol Neel and James Quigley; paternal grandfather, Gregory D. Ladd; maternal great-grandmother, Hazel Kosfield; paternal great-grandparents, John and Nora England; and three great-uncles, Kenneth, Daryl and Rex England.
In the end, Layla was able to give seven gifts, saving the lives of four people. She truly was an angel here on Earth.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and on Thursday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Larry Duane McElwain, 85, Glasgow

Larry Duane McElwain

Larry Duane McElwain, 85, of Glasgow died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born July 15, 1937, in Jamestown, New York, to the late George and Mildred Milks McElwain. Larry graduated from Randolph (New York) High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for four years. He retired from SKF Inc. in Falconer, New York, after 22 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Donna Sheesley McElwain; two sons, Mark McElwain (Monnakae) of Catoosa, Oklahoma, and Stephen McElwain (Jennifer) of Kokomo, Indiana; three daughters, Michele Hosier, Betsy Barr (Robert) and Emily Groce, all of Glasgow; two stepchildren, Scott Sheesley and Lacie Burks (Barry), both of Glasgow; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Milburn McElwain (Ruth) and Kenneth McElwain (Beverly); one sister, Maxine Wright (Howard); and one grandson, Lawrence Linkous.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and Mr. McElwain will be interred in Randolph Cemetery in Jamestown, New York.

Robert “Bobby” Lee Sharp, 99, Glasgow

Robert “Bobby” Lee Sharp

Robert “Bobby” Lee Sharp, 99, of Glasgow died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at NHC Healthcare. He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Glasgow to the late Oscar Sharp and Mona Stout Sharp. Bobby was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and fought in Germany and France. He worked as a welder all his life in upstate New York, Louisville and Hazard for his nephew, Roy.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lockerbie; three grandchildren, Scott Lockerbie (Crissy), Kelli Nichols (Mark) and Kristi Goutremout (Ron), all of New York; several great grandchildren; one brother, David Sharp; one sister, Betty Crow; a special nephew, Roy Sharp (Sue); several nieces and nephews; and one special great-niece, Micki Bagby (Robert).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Sharp; one son-in-law, Lucky Lockerbie; one brother, Roy Stanton Sharp; and one sister, Kathryn Ritter.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 at the funeral home.

William ‘Bill’ Vien, 59, Glasgow
William “Bill” Vien, 59, of Glasgow died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at his residence.
Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at First Christian Church. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Paula Walker, 56, Park City

Paula Walker

Paula Walker, 56, of Park City died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, in Glasgow. The Barren County native was born March 13, 1966, to Paul Houchens Sr. and Jean Pritchard Houchens. She was married to the late Keith Walker.
Paula was a former press operator for R.R. Donnelley and a member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, survivors include her son, Tanner Walker (Courtney) of Park City, and brother, Paul “Bubby” Houchens Jr. (Lisa) of Smiths Grove.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023 at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel, with interment in Lambert Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
