Barren County was approved for more than one-quarters-of-a-million dollars for agricultural diversification and rural development projects.
In the most recent batch of approvals, the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board approved $3.4 million “for agricultural diversification and rural development projects across the commonwealth.”
Of this $3.4 million total, Barren County received roughly $278,000. Barren County received $258,510 dollars in the County Agricultural Incentives Program, which “provides Kentucky ag producers with cost-share assistance on practices to allow them to improve and diversify their current farm operations” and $20,000 as part of the Youth Agricultural Incentives Program that helps “encourage youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities.”
“Kentucky’s agricultural success depends on our ability to adapt and grow,” Commissioner of Agriculture and Board Chair Jonathan Shell said. “The Agricultural Development Board is proud to invest in projects that empower farm families, encourage innovation, and strengthen rural communities across the Commonwealth.”
