No election irregularities were found in Barren County.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that his Department of Criminal Investigations had completed all of its post-election inquiries that were randomly selected after the 2024 general election. In a letter sent to the State Board of Elections, Coleman wrote that his office found “no credible instances of election law irregularities” during the election.

On Nov. 20, 2024, 12 Kentucky counties were selected, including Barren, Metcalfe, Edmonson counties.

Barren County Clerk Helena Chase Birdwell at the time said the post-election inquiry involved “supplying the general’s office with large amounts of data [and] possible interviews.” According to prior reporting, the findings were presented to a grand jury in each of the 12 counties.

“Kentuckians can have confidence our Commonwealth’s elections are free, fair and secure. After independent and thorough inquiries, we found no credible instances of election law violations during last year’s General Election,” Coleman said. “I’d like to thank all of the county clerks, poll workers, and volunteers who made it possible for Kentuckians to exercise one of our most fundamental rights.”

Out of the 700 messages received by the Attorney General’s Election Fraud Hotline, Barren County had one election day complaint. It was a complaint against an election official.
