AGENDA: Glasgow Common Council to meet tonight, July 14

The Glasgow City Council is expected to meet at 6 p.m. on July 14 to conduct second reading on two ordinances; one amending the code of ordinances relating to the mayor’s and council member’s compensation, and the other amending the 2024-25 fiscal year budget, which is now last year’s budget as the 2025-26 fiscal year began on July 1.

The only new business is the first reading of an alarm ordinance and a resolution between the transportation cabinet and the city relating to the Trojan Trail project.

Old business:

  • Second reading ordinance 2025- an ordinance amending the city of Glasgow’s code of ordinances, section 31.21 as it relates to the compensation of the mayor, and section 32.01 as it relates to the compensation of members of the city council, and authorizing cost of living adjustments for the mayor and members of the city council pursuant to KRS 83.075.
  • Second reading ordinance 2025- an ordinance amending ordinance no. 2025- the city of Glasgow annual budget for the fiscal year 7-1-2024 through 6-30-2025 by receiving into the general fund $690,751.74 for Glasgow airport grant and transferring $690,751.74 to the Glasgow airport.

New business:

  • First reading ordinance 2025- alarm ordinance
  • Resolution no 2025- a resolution approving amendment to agreement between Kentucky transportation cabinet and the city of Glasgow related to the trojan trail project

for council notification purposes, the following executive orders have been signed: executive order no. 2025-300 an order establishing the position title and job description for the position of social worker/victim advocate for the police department.

  • Saturday, July 26 South Central Kentucky Cultural Center – pioneer day step back in time at the annual pioneer day hosted by the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center! This hands-on event is perfect for children and grandchildren ages 6–12, offering a fun and educational glimpse into early American life. Young participants will enjoy activities such as: carding cotton, writing with a quill pen, weaving pot holders, playing traditional colonial Williamsburg games; a light snack will be provided, and a small supply fee will apply.
