An adult female has asked the court for a protective order against a Glasgow Police Department detective.
The petition, in which she alleges sexual assault by Guy Turcotte, was filed in Barren County last week, and a hearing is scheduled as to whether that order should be issued.
The document states that, on Jan. 28, Turcotte went to the woman’s place of employment to request a service that it offers and, in the course of her providing information about that, the 29-year-old noted that Turcotte was carrying a gun and asked whether he was a cop, and he told her he is a detective. The conversation continued regarding personal protective devices.
“He made a comment about me being cute and how he could see why someone would [kidnap me],” she wrote on the petition.
He later called and made an appointment, and when he dropped off the item that was to receive the service, he flirted and signed in the item with the sequence of a heart symbol, the letter U, and the letter G enclosed in a circle, according to the petition.
“This freaked me out some but I stayed professional, [performed the service] and let him know it was ready for pickup. At pickup, … he wrapped his arm around me, placed his hand firmly below my panty line and held me tightly against him and didn’t let go when I tried to pull away,” the petitioner wrote.
She added that Glasgow and state police were investigating the incident.
The petition form has a place to indicate the petitioner’s familial or other relationship to the accused, and in this case the option is checked that says “none of the above relationships apply, but Respondent is alleged to have committed [either stalking or sexual assault],” with the latter of those two also having a check mark next to it.
The woman seeks to have Turcotte restrained from committing any further such acts, from any unauthorized contact or communication with her and from going within a specified distance of the petitioner’s home or workplace.
A subpoena has been issued for video surveillance from the petitioner’s place of employment.
GN1 filed an open records request with the city Tuesday afternoon but also reached out by phone to GPD.
Maj. Terry Flatt, who acts as public information officer for GPD, declined to comment.
When Glasgow News 1 asked Daniel Priddy, public affairs officer for Kentucky State Police Post 3, about the case, his response was that it is an ongoing investigation, and there is no further information to be released at this time.
