Barren County state road listed in KYTC impact report

Once again, road crews will be working this week along the first 10 miles of U.S. 68 — New Bowling Green Road — for drainage work.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3, which serves Barren, Allen, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren counties, released the traffic impact report for this week, noting that there is likely to be increased traffic due to the school year beginning.

Interstate 165
**** NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN*** – A project to completely restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River (mile point 32.6) in Butler County continues. Motorists have switched onto the new traffic pattern. The northbound motorists will be switched to the southbound side. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph. Motorists should use caution. The project is expected to last until fall of 2026.

Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) at Interstate 165 Exit 7 U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green has started. The project will retrofit the current interchange to convert it to a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) Interchange. While the road will remain open throughout the project, motorists will notice different traffic patterns during construction. The speed limit on U.S. 231 has been lowered to 35 mph through the work zone. The 45-mph area has been extended north of the work zone to Veterans Memorial Highway. One lane in each direction on U.S. 231 is closed. Motorists should use caution while traveling through this section of roadway. The project is expected to be completed later this fall.

Allen County
KY 1855 (mile points 0.0 to 6.7) – Crews are expected to begin paving this section. Lane closures are possible.

Butler County
KY 1153 Sandy Creek Road – A project to replace a drainage structure on KY 1153 Sandy Creek Road over Grassy Lick Creek in southern Butler County is expected to create a long-term closure. The closure on KY 1153 is expected to begin on Monday, Aug. 11 and last for approximately three weeks.

Logan County
U.S. 68 (mile points 8.0 to 8.8) – Milling operations are expected to begin with paving to start after milling is complete. The work is being done during overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and travel delays.
U.S. 431 Russellville Bypass (mile points 11.5 to 12.5)– Milling operations are expected to begin with paving to start after milling is complete. The work is being done during overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and travel delays.
KY 103 Wilson Avenue at U.S. 68X – A project to improve the intersection of KY 103 Wilson Avenue and U.S. 68X Main Street has created a long-term closure on KY 103 Wilson Avenue at U.S. 68X. U.S. 68X Main Street will remain open from the other three approaches, but not accessible to or from KY 103 Wilson Avenue. KY103 College Street will also remain open during this time.

Simpson County
KY 1008 (mile point 2.2) – Construction of a turn lane on KY 1008 to U.S. 31-W has begun. Lane closures are in place. Crews are expected to begin paving. Motorists should expect traffic pattern changes in this area. The project is expected to be completed by the end
of September.
KY 622 (mile points 8.8 to 11.1) – Crews are expected begin working on base failure repairs in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures.
KY 2592 (mile points 0.0 to 0.7) – Crews are expected to begin working on base failure repairs in this section. Motorists should expect lane closures.

Warren County
KY 3145 (U.S. 31-W to I-165 connector road at Exit 30) – A project currently underway to widen U.S. 31-W in the northern part of Warren County has created a temporary closure on KY 3145. KY 3145 is closed between U.S. 68 and U.S. 31-W. The closure is expected to last about a month. Motorists should use U.S. 31-W and U.S. 68 as the detour. U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5) – The next phase of U.S. 31-W widening in northern Warren County has started. Crews have started moving dirt to widen U.S. 31-W from U.S. 68 to Mizpah Road. Most of the work is being done away from the current roadway so little traffic impacts are expected.
KY 185 – Two improvement projects on KY 185 have started. The bulk of the work is being done away from the current roadway with little traffic impact. The realignment section of KY 185 will create a new road to the east of the current KY 185, starting near Runner Road and tying back into the current KY 185 just south of KY 1320 (Penns Chapel Road). The HSIP section of the project is from KY 1320 to near Jack Simmons Road, 1.26 miles in length. Drainage improvements and ditching will be a part of this project.
U.S. 68 at KY 242 – A Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) is set to begin on U.S. 68 in the Browning Community area of Warren County. The project will construct a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) at the intersection of U.S. 68 and KY 242. Motorists should expect lane closures throughout the entire construction process. KY 2265 Glenn Lilly Road (Mile points 0.0 to 5.4) – A project to improve drainage, shoulder areas and to resurface the road in this section is expected to begin. Lane closures should be expected from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
