Edwin Leroyce Burks, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at NHC. Leroyce was born Feb. 2, 1931, to the late Alex and Nannie Ellen Burks. He married Ima Madison on Nov. 12, 1948. Together they had three sons, Darrell (Martha), Eddie (Debbie) and Scott (Kim). He was known as Papaw to eight grandchildren, Brian, Whitney, Dara, Sheldon, Kelby, Bradon, Tristann and Avery, along with five great-grandchildren, Briley, Kaelin, Preston, Shelby and Everly.
Leroyce was a true Christian disciple. He was saved in 1947 and joined Bon Ayr Missionary Baptist Church and became an ordained deacon in 1951. He has always said that he knows where he is going when the good Lord calls him home. He used his God-gifted talent of singing as he led singing for many years at Bon Ayr Baptist. He was inducted into the Kentucky Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Leroyce was a member of the Masonic Allen 24 Lodge and served as master in the year 1992. He received his 50-year pen several years ago. Leroyce was a lover, supporter and advocate of the agriculture industry. He instilled a love and appreciation for the industry into his family while being a member of the American Hereford Association, Kentucky Hereford Association and the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association. Leroyce was big-hearted, a hard worker and loved by many. He will be missed but will rest easy at his forever home.
Leroyce had requested to have his funeral at his home church with only one yellow rose on his casket.
The funeral service is at 1 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at Bon Ayr Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Sandra Doyel, 57, of Park City died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born July 10, 1965, to Mary Lillian Lindsey and the late James Harold Lindsey. She was married to Donald Doyel, who also survives.
Sandra owned and operated Designers Touch Beauty Salon in Cave City. She was a member of Rolling Hills United Baptist Church and also attended Cedar Hill United Baptist Church. Sandra enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, spending time with her family, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Besides her husband and mother, she also leaves to honor her memory her children, Chris Potter of Cave City, Cecily Flynt (Kevin) of Lebanon and Bella Doyel of Park City; a granddaughter, Mary Lynn Brown; her sisters and best friends, Vhonda Oliver (Michael) of Bowling Green, Belinda Crumpton (Randy) of Summer Shade, Vickie Lindsey of Cave City and Marieia Johnson of Marietta, Georgia; her brother, Shawn Lindsey of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Mark Lindsey.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at Patton Funeral Home Cave City Chapel, with interment in Johnson Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
