Portion of two state roads within Barren County are scheduled for roadwork, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3.
The district released its traffic impact report through Sept. 19 and among the roads listed are Ky. 839, which is used as the back way to Tompkinsville, and Ky. 2131 — Coral Hill-Halfway Road.
Ky. 839 will have crews working on “base failure repairs” from the Monroe County Line to Ky. 90. From the beginning of Coral Hill-Halfway Road to mile marker 2.2 crews will also be working on “base failure repairs.” Both will be done “in preparation for resurfacing in these sections,” according to the report.
“Motorists should expect lane closures” along these sections of the roads, the report stated.

Interstate 165
- A project to completely restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River (mile point 32.6) in Butler County continues. Motorists have switched onto the new traffic pattern. The northbound motorists have been switched to the southbound side. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph. Motorists should use caution. The project is expected to last until fall of 2026.
- Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) at Interstate 165 Exit 7 U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green continues. The project will retrofit the current interchange to convert it to a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) Interchange. While the road will remain open throughout the project, motorists will notice different traffic patterns during construction. The speed limit on U.S. 231 has been lowered to 35 mph through the work zone. The 45-mph area has been extended north of the work zone to Veterans Memorial Highway. One lane in each direction on U.S. 231 is closed. Motorists should use caution while traveling through this section of roadway. The project is expected to be completed later this fall.
Allen County
- KY 1855 (mile point 0.0 to 6.7) – Crews are expected to begin paving this section. Lane closures are possible.
Edmonson County
- KY 1075 (from KY 185 to KY 187) – Crews will be doing base failure repairs in preparation for resurface in this section of roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures.
- KY 2336 (from KY 728 to Silas Hunt Road) – Crews will be doing base failure repairs in preparation for resurface in this section of roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures.
Logan County
- U.S. 68 (mile point 8.8 to 8.8) – Paving is complete. Crews are expected to work on striping. Lane closures and delays should be expected.
- U.S. 431 (mile point 11.5 to 12.5) – Paving is complete. Crews are expected to work on striping. Lane closures and delays should be expected.
- KY 106 (mile point 7 to 15.1) – Crews will be working on a resurfacing project. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
- KY 100 (mile point 0.08 to 9) – Crews will be working on base failures in this area in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
- KY 79 (mile point 13.8 to 15) – Crews will be working on base failures in this area in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
- U.S. 431 (mile point 7.3 to 11.5) – Crews will be working on base failures in this area in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
Metcalfe County
- KY 533 – (mile point 0.0 to 4.7) – Crews will be doing base failure repairs in preparation for resurface in this section of roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures.
Monroe County
- KY 1366 (mile point 0.0 to 9.4) – Crews will be working on base failures in this area in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
Simpson County
- KY 1008 (mile point 2.2) – Construction of a turn lane on KY 1008 to U.S. 31-W is wrapping up. It is expected the new turn lane will open by Friday. Lane closures are in place. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Todd County
- KY 507 (mile point 1.9 to 8.2) – Crews will be working on base failures in this area in preparation to resurface the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers.
Warren County
- KY 234 – A project to improve safety and mobility at the intersection of KY 234 Johnny Webb Boulevard and KY 880 Lovers Lane in Warren County begins next week. Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime hours. Most of the work is expected to be done between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. The bulk of the project is expected to be completed by late November.
- U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5) – The next phase of U.S. 31-W widening in northern Warren County continues. The project widens U.S. 31-W from U.S. 68 to Mizpah Road. Traffic has been switched onto the new section of road, but it is two-one traffic for now. There is one travel lane in each direction. Crews will begin working on the other side of the road.
- KY 185 – Two improvement projects on KY 185 have started. The bulk of the work is being done away from the current roadway with little traffic impact. The realignment section of KY 185 will create a new road to the east of the current KY 185, starting near Runner Road and tying back into the current KY 185 just south of KY 1320 (Penns Chapel Road). The HSIP section of the project is from KY 1320 to near Jack Simmons Road, 1.26 miles in length. Drainage improvements and ditching will be a part of this project.
- U.S. 68 at KY 242 – A Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) continues U.S. 68 in the Browning Community area of Warren County. The project will construct a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) at the intersection of U.S. 68 and KY 242. Motorists should expect lane closures throughout the entire construction process. Th project is in its final phase.
- KY 2265 Glenn Lilly Road (Mile points 0.0 to 5.4) – A project to improve drainage, shoulder areas and to resurface the road in this section continues. Lane closures should be expected from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
