The Barren County Fiscal Court received more money from the Kentucky Department of Transportation for bridge preservation.

On Oct. 2, Governor Andy Beshear announced the awarding of $7.5 million spread across 17 bridge projects throughout the commonwealth which will “repair, replace or preserve bridges to improve safety, extend their lifespan, remove lengthy detours and maintain important community links,” a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet press release stated.

Out of the $7.5 million total awarded in this round of funding, the Barren County Fiscal Court was approved for $175,000 for bridge repairs on Siddens Road.

Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd said these were separate from the $751,319 given to the county earlier this year.

As of 2 p.m. on Sept. 19 Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management announced that the road at the bridge would be closed for approximately 30 days.
