Four hundred full-time manufacturing jobs are coming to Glasgow, according to a governor’s office press release that confirmed that Maryland-based Tate plans to build its “largest North American facility” within the city limits.
The $61.2 million project represents the largest job-creation announcement in Barren County in 18 years, according to the release.
“This is a once-in-a-generation milestone for Glasgow,” Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse said. “The creation of 400 new jobs marks the largest economic development investment in roughly two decades, and it speaks volumes about the strength of our community. Today, we celebrate not only new opportunities for our people but also a brighter future for generations to come. We are so grateful to Tate for choosing Glasgow.”
Once fully operational, Tate will produce “high performing thermal management and airflow solutions engineered to optimize efficiency and reliability in the most demanding of data centers,” the press release stated.
At the recent Glasgow City Council meeting, council members passed an ordinance providing the manufacturer a one percent retention or rebate on the occupational license fee on certain wages paid to their employees, provided they meet the criteria of the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.
Tate plans to move into a 764,000-square-foot facility.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tate to Glasgow and truly appreciate their decision to invest in Barren County,” said President and CEO of the Barren County Economic Authority Maureen Carpenter, who first mentioned the new manufacturer during the Sept. 25 Industry Impact Awards banquet. “This project brings 400 high-quality jobs, significant capital investment, and new energy to our growing industrial community. We look forward to partnering with the Tate team as they establish and expand their operations, creating lasting opportunities for our residents and strengthening our local economy.”
Tate currently employs more than 1,800 employees across 21 facilities globally. The company, a subsidiary of Irish listed company Kingspan Group PLC, has a global footprint that includes 273 facilities and more than 27,000 employees across 80 countries.
“We’re delighted to become part of the Glasgow community,” said Daniel Kennedy, Tate’s Global President of Cloud Solutions and Innovation. “Expanding our manufacturing capabilities in rural Kentucky reflects our commitment to expand our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the creation of high-quality jobs here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
