Todd Steenbergen introduces voice of the Scotties Joe Meyers, and his statman Bruce Trabue. They are joined by former Glasgow football head coach Coy Meadows, and former Glasgow baseball head coach and football assistant coach Sam Royse to celebrate the program’s 700th win. Myers, Trabue and Royse all played football at Glasgow.
Royse, Trabue and Meadows talk about what the football program meant to them both as children and adults.
The Glasgow program played its first games in 1918. The 700th win came Oct. 3 at Butler County when the Scotties rolled over the Bears, 64-12. Much of the history of the program can be found in a book by Richard Tylicki that was published in the late-1980s. He collected all of the scores through the years and published them.
Hear the conversation below between Myers, Meadows, Royse and Trabue from Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. Steenbergen moderates for Coffee and Conversation.
Below is a list of the Top 17 programs in Kentucky in wins. The last updated record for program wins on the KHSAA website is after the 2020 season. The records below are compiled by taking those online records, then doing the math on the five seasons since.
