Traffic is expected to be impacted on four state roads in Barren County through the rest of the week, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Two of the most traveled roads include South Green Street and Happy Valley Road.

In September, the cabinet announced that resurfacing and milling work would take place on South Green Street, from the light at U.S. 31-E to East Washington Street. That work is now complete, however motorists should still “expect lane closures” as crews complete the necessary finishing work on the road, the cabinet stated.

Road work continues on the nine-mile stretch between the Veterans Outer Loop and Cave City. The project adds alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes at different points along the corridor. Drainage improvement work, guardrail work, shoulder improvements, passing lane extensions and vegetation trimming are also included in spots along the route, according to the cabinet’s traffic impact report. Construction on Ky. 90 began on Oct. 6 and is scheduled to be completed by early fall 2026, according to prior reporting.

Other Barren County state roads, which have been included in other traffic impact release, are Ky. 839 and Ky. 2131 — Coral Hill-Halfway Road. Both of these are scheduled for paving,  during which time motorist should expect lane closures, the cabinet stated.

The full release from the transportation cabinet is below.

Interstate 165

  • A project to completely restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River (mile point 32.6) in Butler County continues. Motorists have switched onto the new traffic pattern. The northbound motorists have been switched to the southbound side. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph. Motorists should use caution. The project is expected to last until fall of 2026.
  • Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) at Interstate 165 Exit 7 U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green continues. The project will retrofit the current interchange to convert it to a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) Interchange. The construction process is entering its final stages. There could be additional lane switches through the rest of the process. Motorists should use caution.

 Allen County

  • KY 98 (mile point 9-10) – Traffic has been switched onto the new alignment. The project is not complete. Crews will still be working in the area.

Edmonson County

  • KY 1075 (from KY 185 to KY 187) – Paving is expected this week. Motorists should expect lane closures.
  • KY 2336 (from KY 728 to Silas Hunt Road) – Paving is expected this week. Motorists should expect lane closures.

Logan County

  • KY 722 (mile point 1.7 to 7.0) – A project to mill and resurface the roadway should be expected. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays.

Metcalfe County

  • KY 533 – (mile point 0.0 to 4.7) – Paving is complete, but some finishing work remains.  Motorists should expect lane closures.

Warren County

  • KY 234 – A project to extend the turn lanes on KY 234 at the intersection with KY 880 is mostly complete. There is still come finishing work left to do.
  • U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5) – The next phase of U.S. 31-W widening in northern Warren County continues. The project widens U.S. 31-W from U.S. 68 to Mizpah Road. Traffic has been switched onto the new section of road, but it is two-one traffic for now. There is one travel lane in each direction. Crews will begin working on the other side of the road.
  • KY 185 – Two improvement projects on KY 185 have started. The bulk of the work is being done away from the current roadway with little traffic impact.  The realignment section of KY 185 will create a new road to the east of the current KY 185, starting near Runner Road and tying back into the current KY 185 just south of KY 1320 (Penns Chapel Road).  The HSIP section of the project is from KY 1320 to near Jack Simmons Road, 1.26 miles in length. Drainage improvements and ditching will be a part of this project.
  • KY 2265 Glenn Lilly Road (Mile points 0.0 to 5.4) – Paving is expected to start this week. Lane closures and delays should be expected from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • U.S. 68 (mile point 17.3 to 20.2) – A resurfacing project from near Advantage Road to Church Street is expected to begin. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • U.S. 68 (mile point 22.7 to 22.7) – A resurfacing project from KY 101 to the Barren County line is expected to begin. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
